Apoorva Asrani, Vivek Agnihotri slam KJo for commenting on Anushka’s career

Mumbai (IANS) | Producer-entrepreneur Karan Johar (KJo) is facing flak on the internet. Writer-editor Apoorva Asrani, best known for his work on ‘Aligarh’ and director of ‘The Kashmir Files’ Vivek Agnihotri, have criticized Karan Johar for something he has said in the past. In an old video, KJo is seen telling Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma that he wanted to ‘murder her career’. Many netizens including Apoorva and Vivek are not happy with this.

In 2016, Karan said at an event that he had asked Aditya Chopra not to cast Anushka in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’.

Sharing the same video on his Twitter, Apoorva Asrani tweeted on Thursday: “Karan Johar confessed to Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra in 2016, ‘I absolutely wanted to murder Anushka Sharma’s career’.”

Vivek, who noticed the tweet, also gave his opinion by sharing it on his feed, writing: “One’s only hobby is to make or break a career. If Bollywood is in the gutter, it is because of some people’s dirty ‘backroom’ Is.”

The video in question is from the 18th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2016. Karan attended the event to promote the film along with “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” actresses Anushka and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who are known for their chartbuster music.

KJo while talking to Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra said: “I wanted to end Anushka Sharma’s career completely, because when Aditya Chopra showed me her picture, I said no, you have to sign Anushka Sharma. There is no need to do that. Aditya is another lead actor, I wanted him to be signed.”
