Ankush Devangan met the Director of NSD
Bhilai: Renowned sculptor Ankush Devangan paid a courtesy visit to the Director of National School of Drama, Chittaranjan Tripathi in New Delhi. During this, he introduced him to the rich theatre culture of Chhattisgarh. He told that the world’s oldest theatre still stands in all its glory in Ramgarh of Surguja district where the great poet Kalidas composed Meghdoot.
It is known that Dr. Ankush Devangan has become the first board member of Chhattisgarh in Lalit Kala Academy, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi. Currently, he is the representative of the Permanent Collection Committee there. In his meeting with NSD Director Chittaranjan Tripathi, Ankush gave a detailed description of the rich art heritage of Chhattisgarh. Ankush told that in ancient times this land was called Dakshin Kosal, which was the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram. He also gave a special description of the Nacha tradition that has been continuing for decades, to see which even today people in rural areas stay awake all night.
He praised the important contribution of Bhilai Steel Plant in the development of art and culture of Chhattisgarh in Bhilai, which is called Mini India. Due to which, the theatre art here has established itself in the global scenario in the last seven decades. Not only this, the artists here are also making the name of Indian film industry famous all over the world by staying in Bollywood. Due to the social concern and kindness of the plant, the art of artists like Padma Vibhushan Teejan Bai has flourished. Not only Teejan Bai, but many artists and sportspersons have earned fame at the international level due to the development policies of the plant. The NSD Director could not remain without being overwhelmed by the speech of Ankush Dewangan. He wholeheartedly praised the unprecedented work done by Bhilai Steel Plant in the development of Chhattisgarh’s rich art and culture. He expressed his desire to visit the holy land of Chhattisgarh very soon.
