Andhra Pradesh: The self-sacrifice of Goddess Parameshwari was celebrated as a state festival.

KAKINADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has announced that the self-immolation day of Goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari will be observed as a state festival.

This was announced by Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, who, along with his wife Surya Kumari and Achanta MLA Pithani Satyanarayana, offered silk garments to the goddess at her temple in Penugonda on Tuesday.

Ramanaidu said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on behalf of the alliance government, has declared that the self-immolation day of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Ammavaru will henceforth be celebrated as a state festival.

The minister said this is a true tribute from the state government to the goddess, who symbolizes sacrifice, truth, and righteousness. He emphasized that the self-immolation was not a death, but the ultimate sacrifice made for Dharma by Adi Shakti, the embodiment of feminine power.

Ramanaidu stressed that the goddess’s message is not limited to any particular caste or religion.
