Visakhapatnam: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Kondapalli Srinivas said the State’s sports policy has set an example for others. Addressing participants at the third National Taekwondo Training Seminar at Rajiv Sports Ground in Vizianagaram on Tuesday, Srinivas said the State has provided three per cent reservation for sportspersons in jobs under the new policy and has built massive infrastructure for sports.
“We are giving top priority to sports along with studies,” Srinivas said. The Minister said human resources are the country’s asset. He hoped that every student will excel in studies as well as sports and become a source of pride for the State and the region. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is giving great importance to sports. He said the Government has appointed physical education teachers in every school and proposed to build playgrounds in every district.
The minister said efforts are being made to establish a sports university in the state and urged the students to avail the opportunities provided by the government and become great sportspersons. He inspected the training being imparted to the sportspersons and spoke to coaches and players from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Taekwondo District Association president Gurana Ayyalu, State secretary C.H. Venugopal, international athlete and Taekwondo coach Abbas Sheki, Telangana State Taekwondo Association secretary K. Srihari, Makkuv Sridhar and other dignitaries, coaches and players attended the event.
