The two were Ramavath Babu Naik and Banavath Balu Naik, both aged 35 years and residents of Karampudi. Police seized a two-wheeler and items stolen from the women.

The two hit the woman on the head with a pestle, dragged her to the back room and raped her. They fled after getting their hands on her earnings and the cash kept in the grocery shop, police said. “Police formed five special teams to arrest the accused, deployed sniffer dogs to collect evidence and examined CCTV footage and call data recordings. Miscreants in the area were questioned, following which they were arrested,” he said.
