Vijayawada: The NTR district administration has made arrangements to distribute social security pensions to 2,36,726 beneficiaries in the beginning of the month of June following the election-related MCC guidelines. District Collector Dilli Rao said that the officials will ensure smooth distribution of pensions to the beneficiaries. The district collector said that the 2,36,726 beneficiaries include elderly, widows, disabled, dappu artists, toddy tappers, weavers and other category pensioners. The pension amount of 1,80,216 beneficiaries will be credited to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), while the remaining 56,510 will get it at their doorsteps. Pension for disabled, bed-ridden persons and widows of ex-servicemen will be distributed at their doorsteps.
People whose pension amount has not been credited to their bank accounts due to various issues will also be given pension at their doorsteps. He asked the officials to complete the pension distribution to all the beneficiaries across the district by June 3. The Collector attended the training session for election counting staff on counting of postal votes held at the strong rooms of Nova and Nimra colleges on Friday. The DEO informed the counting staff about the procedure to be followed while counting the votes. DRO Srinivasa Rao, nodal officer Srinivasa Rao and others were present on the occasion.
