Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has strongly opposed the Land Ownership Act and called it “horrific” and detrimental to landowners. Speaking during the debate on the Land Ownership Act Bill, Naidu criticised the previous government for enacting the law without giving sufficient thought to its implications, and expressed his disappointment at the problems it created for citizens. The Chief Minister highlighted the massive agitation by the public and advocates against the Act, and stressed the need for greater awareness among people about land rights. He warned that if the controversial law comes into force, it could severely undermine the property rights of many citizens of the state. Naidu’s remarks came as part of the discussion around the Land Ownership Act Repeal Bill, which he claims has created significant complications for landowners. Amid growing concerns, the Chief Minister reiterated the importance of protecting the rights of individuals over their properties.
