Tirupati. Tirupati: The Jana Sena has alleged that there was widespread corruption and abuse of VIP privileges at the holy Tirumala temple during the tenure of the YSRC. Jana Sena Tirupati in-charge Kiran Rayal referred to the allotment of 74 darshan tickets in a single day to then minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy. He said the TTD gave preferential treatment to the political elite at the expense of ordinary devotees.
Addressing the media in Tirumala on Friday, he gave a list of services provided to Peddireddy and VIP protocol break-darshans during the last five years as examples of this mismanagement in the TTD.
“If one Peddireddy was given so many darshans in a day, how many would have been allotted to other former ministers like RK Roja and K Narayana Swamy, who used to visit Tirumala three days a week,” he asked. The Jana Sena leader accused the previous government of degrading Tirumala and turning it into a profit-driven enterprise for private gain. He demanded action against former government officials and TTD administrators who may have encouraged these corrupt practices.
