Andhra Pradesh: Former CEO suspended days before retirement
Tirupati: Former Chittoor Zilla Parishad CEO P Prabhakar Reddy faces suspension just before his retirement, as ordered by Panchayat Raj Department Commissioner Kannababu late on Thursday night. Critics, particularly TDP leaders, alleged that Prabhakar Reddy, due to alleged political support from minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy during the YSRCP tenure, held several high-ranking posts simultaneously despite not having the required qualifications. They accused him of financial malpractices involving substantial funds, including interest from BRGF and Finance Commission allocations, possibly running into hundreds of crores of rupees. The TDP’s claims also include allegations of improper dealings with his contractors, resulting in delays and legal action. Amid complaints lodged by officials and TDP leaders to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others, an inquiry has been initiated, and Prabhakar Reddy has been directed not to leave the headquarters pending inquiry. Critics argue that the delay in action against Reddy was due to political patronage under the previous administration, with his suspension coming only after the TDP returned to power.
