Vijayawada. Vijayawada: The first session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly after the 2024 general elections is likely to begin from June 17. There will be four meetings in this session. On the first day, the newly elected MLAs will take oath. On the second day, a senior MLA will be the pro tem speaker, who will oversee the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.
There is speculation that former rebel YSRC MP and TD MLA from Undi K. Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju is lobbying for the post of Speaker with full force. Senior TD MLAs and Jana Sena MLAs are in the race for the Speaker’s post.
Nominated Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is considering various names for the post of Assembly Speaker.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRC has been limited to only 11 seats. It is a matter of conjecture whether YSRC will get opposition status or not, as a party needs 18 MLAs to sit in the opposition.
Jana Sena has got 21 seats but is part of the ruling coalition.
There will be separate seating arrangements for 135 TDP MLAs, 21 Janata Dal MLAs, eight BJP members and 11 YSRC MLAs.
