Vijayawada. Vijayawada: Gaddam Shiva Manikanta, 26, attacked his girlfriend’s father K. Sriramchandra Prasad (56) with a knife at Vrindavan Colony under the limits of Krishna Lanka Police Station in Vijayawada on Thursday night. Prasad had rejected Manikanta’s proposal to marry his daughter. According to Krishna Lanka police, Prasad and his daughter were returning on a bike from a stationery shop on Thursday night when Manikanta rammed into Prasad’s bike and took out a knife. Seeing this, Prasad’s daughter Sri Darshini opposed her lover.
However, police said Manikanta attacked Prasad with a knife on his face, seriously injuring him, and fled. Prasad was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police said Manikanta worked as a physical education teacher at Vigyan Vihar School and met Darshini when she was doing her intermediate. As the friendship between the two grew stronger, Manikanth proposed to Darshini that he wanted to marry her. He threatened to kill her if she did not marry him.
Seeing this kind of behaviour, Darshini complained about Manikanth to her father. Following this, Prasad along with his neighbours went to Manikanth’s house in Vidyadharapuram and warned him of dire consequences if he interfered in his daughter’s life.
An angry Manikanth attacked Sriramchandra in Vrindavan Colony and killed him. The Krishna Lanka police have registered a case under sections 302, 307 and 354 (D) of the IPC. They are searching for Manikanth who is absconding.
