Tirupati Tirupati: Noted scholars said Alluri Sitarama Raju left an indelible mark in the history of Indian freedom struggle and stood as a nightmare for the British with his fearless revolutionary ideologies. On his 127th birth anniversary, the TTD paid tributes to the great freedom fighter at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on Thursday. SVU research scholar Ramesh Babu said Alluri is best remembered for leading the Rampa Rebellion against the British, in which he organised the tribal people of Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts to revolt against the British government. He sacrificed his life for the sake of his motherland at a young age. He is always remembered and respected for his bravery and is the pride of the people of Andhra, he said. Deputy EO Kalyan Anandaraju, Deputy EO Devendrababu, SPWDPG Telugu HoD Dr. Krishnaveni and other staff were present.
