Kurnool: In a major accident in Nandyal district, all 36 passengers traveling in a private bus miraculously survived, thanks to the timely presence of mind of the bus cleaner and the assistance of a medium-sized vehicle owner passing by.
Except for the bus driver, who died, all the passengers in the vehicle miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.
The bus cleaner acted quickly and started breaking the bus windows. A DCM (medium-sized truck) owner, who stopped his vehicle, immediately got down and helped the bus cleaner break the windows and rescue all the passengers traveling in the bus.
Police said that if the windows had not been broken in time, the accident could have been as tragic as the recent incident in Kurnool district.
The accident occurred when the air-conditioned bus was traveling from Nellore to Hyderabad and was near Sirivellameta. Its front tire burst, causing the bus to lose balance. The driver lost control of the bus.
Although the accident happened in the early morning, about 10 local people rushed to the spot and also played a crucial role in rescuing the passengers. Meanwhile, a passerby dialed 100 and alerted the police, following which police teams reached the spot.
The deceased bus driver has been identified as Bhaskar, a resident of Kadapa district. Police said that the bodies of the lorry driver and cleaner were badly burnt, making identification difficult.
