Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra has directed officials to expedite the construction of outfall drains in the city to prevent rainwater stagnation on roads during the monsoon season. As part of his inspection tour on Thursday, the Commissioner visited Gayatri Nagar, Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road and Patamata High School Road to review the ongoing development works and assess the progress of civic infrastructure projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhyanachandra said the civic body was taking preventive measures to avoid waterlogging problems during the rainy season. He instructed officials to speed up the construction of the outfall drain on Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road and ensure the smooth flow of rainwater to prevent flooding in the surrounding areas.
Later, the Commissioner inspected the Anna Canteen located on Patamata High School Road. He reviewed the quality of food being served, drinking water facilities, sanitation standards and the functioning of the staff. He directed officials to ensure that the canteen operates efficiently without any lapses and that services are provided to beneficiaries at the scheduled timings every day.
He also instructed officials to continuously monitor the facility and resolve public grievances promptly to avoid inconvenience to visitors. Executive Engineer Rama Rao, Assistant Medical and Health Officer Dr Gopal Naik and other officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
