ANANTAPUR: Industrialist Anand Mahindra has offered to support the education of a Class X girl from Raptadu, who had sustained injuries while trying to save her friend during a recent electric saw attack at her school. Responding to social media posts highlighting the family’s financial difficulties and the poor condition of their house, Mahindra assured support for the girl’s education and other assistance to her family
The girl sustained serious injuries to her legs while attempting to protect her friend, who had been sitting close to her when the attack took place. The girl is undergoing treatment at Anantapur General Hospital. AP IT and education minister Nara Lokesh thanked Anand Mahindra for his gesture. He said the girl had displayed remarkable courage by trying to save her friend despite the threat to her own life. As per reports, the student who had been attacked by the power saw is recovering steadily
She has expressed confidence of returning to school soon to appear for her upcoming Class X examinations,” BC welfare minister S. Savitha said on Friday. The minister visited the girl at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, where the latter is undergoing treatment. After interacting with doctors, Savitha told media that a surgery on the girl’s hand on Thursday had been successful and that her condition is gradually improving
The girl’s mother and other relatives thanked Lokesh for ensuring the best possible medical treatment, Savitha said, pointing out that Lokesh is personally monitoring the girl’s health and treating her like his own daughter. The minister accused YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his legal team of extending support to the accused by filing a public interest litigation (PIL) in the High Court
She alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy stands by people facing serious criminal allegations. She cited the examples of former MLC Anantha Babu and the Raptadu attack accused. Savitha said the former CM is attempting to politicise the incident to target the coalition government.
