Jashpur news. A case of rape of a married woman has come to light from Farasabahar of the district. A relative has raped a woman of his own acquaintance by threatening to kill her in the absence of her husband. In this case, after the complaint of the victim, the police took immediate action and registered a case against the accused under sections 450, 376, 376 (2) (n), 506 IPC and arrested him within a few hours.
According to the information received from the police, on June 14, 2024, a married woman lodged a report at Farasbahar Police Station that on September 27, 2023, when she was alone at home, Santosh Nayak, a resident of Pandripani, entered her house. He inquired about the woman’s husband, and when the husband was not at home, he raped the woman forcibly by threatening to kill her. Accused Santosh Nayak threatened her that if she told anyone, he would kill her. In her complaint to the police, the woman told that the accused raped her several times after 27 September 2023 till 8 May 2024 by threatening to kill her. Tired of the harassment, the woman finally told her husband about the incident, after which, the victim reached Farasbahar police station with her husband and lodged a report on 14 June 2024.
As soon as the information about the case was received, as per the instructions of Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Soni, a team was formed. The team raided and detained the accused Santosh Nayak. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. On June 15, 2024, he was arrested and sent on judicial remand.
