Amritsar: Four snatchers, declared criminals arrested

The police have arrested four snatchers, besides a proclaimed offender, in two separate incidents.

Chheharta police have arrested two snatchers, identified as Sahilpreet Singh and Major Singh, residents of Dhand village of Tarn Taran. Police have recovered the mobile phone snatched from both of them and the bike used in the crime.

Nishan Singh, SHO, Chheharta police station, said Naval Kumar Dubey, a native of Uttar Pradesh who now lives in Narayangarh, had lodged a complaint with the police that two bike-riding men snatched his cellphone. He was responding to a call when the suspects snatched his cellphone from him. During the investigation, the police identified the miscreants and arrested them yesterday. He was produced in the court and brought on police remand for further investigation.

In the second case, the Civil Lines police have arrested two snatchers, identified as Shamsher Singh alias Shera and Harpal Singh, residents of Ajnala. Police have recovered a mobile phone and the bike used in the crime from them.

Civil Lines police station in-charge Amandeep Kaur said that Parnam Singh of Sainsra Kalan village told the police that he was going from Batala Road towards Novelty Chowk when his car suddenly stopped due to some fault. Parnam said he was answering a phone call while checking the car three days ago when two men on a bike snatched his cellphone. The SHO said the two were later identified and arrested.

The police have also arrested a declared offender (PO) wanted in two cases of vehicle theft. He was identified as Luv Singh alias Goldie of Dhand village. Police said two cases were registered against him in March and July 2020. The court had declared him a PO.
