Srinagar (IANS) | Visiting Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Saturday lay the foundation stone of the ‘Balidaan Stambh’ at Pratap Park in Srinagar, adjacent to the historic center of the city, Lal Chowk. According to sources, Shah will also meet senior politicians. He will pay a courtesy call on senior leader Dr. Karan Singh at his residence ‘Taleh Manzil’ on the high-security Gupkar Road in Srinagar. After this, the Union Minister will go to the Police Golf Course, where he will inaugurate the Martyr’s Gallery. Sources said that he also has a program to give appointment orders to the kin of the slain policemen.
He will return to Delhi on Saturday afternoon after concluding his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Late Friday evening, Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting attended by senior civilian, police, paramilitary and intelligence officials to review preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning July 1.
During the review meeting, the Union Home Minister ordered the security arrangements to be beefed up to ensure minimum damage in the event of any natural calamity during the 62-day visit.
