HYDERABAD: Amazon Inc. has expressed interest in expanding its data centre facilities and workforce in Hyderabad. During his visit to the US, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu held discussions with Amazon’s senior leadership team, led by Kerry Person, vice-president of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Centre Planning and Delivery.
Amazon already has a strong presence in Telangana, including its largest corporate building in the world, located in Hyderabad. Additionally, the firm launched its dedicated air cargo network, ‘Amazon Air’, in Hyderabad in 2023.
AWS has designated Hyderabad as a strategic region, with three major data centres already operational. It shared plans for further expansion, including new hyper scale data centres in Hyderabad, which are critical for AI/ML-enabled services.
“We assured the corporation of our best incentives and complete support to help them achieve their goals in Hyderabad. We expect significant expansion of their presence in our state,” the IT and Industries minister added.
