Amazon set to expand its data centre facilities

HYDERABAD: Amazon Inc. has expressed interest in expanding its data centre facilities and workforce in Hyderabad. During his visit to the US, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu held discussions with Amazon’s senior leadership team, led by Kerry Person, vice-president of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Centre Planning and Delivery.

Amazon already has a strong presence in Telangana, including its largest corporate building in the world, located in Hyderabad. Additionally, the firm launched its dedicated air cargo network, ā€˜Amazon Air’, in Hyderabad in 2023.

AWS has designated Hyderabad as a strategic region, with three major data centres already operational. It shared plans for further expansion, including new hyper scale data centres in Hyderabad, which are critical for AI/ML-enabled services.

ā€œWe assured the corporation of our best incentives and complete support to help them achieve their goals in Hyderabad. We expect significant expansion of their presence in our state,ā€ the IT and Industries minister added.
