Tamil Nadu: A report was filed in the Chennai High Court stating that the Hindu Religious Endowments Department, the Tiruvannamalai District Administration, and the Corporation have taken all steps to ensure public safety during the Tiruvannamalai Deepam Festival.
Advocate Yanai Rajendran filed a petition in the Chennai High Court stating that millions of devotees will attend the Karthigai Deepam Festival at the Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai. Therefore, steps should be taken to prevent crowding. He also stated that devotees should be provided with basic amenities.
When the case was last heard, the Director General of Police and the District Superintendent of Police filed a report stating that 15,000 police personnel would be deployed for security during the Tiruvannamalai Deepam Festival.
24 Temporary Bus Stops: When the case was heard on Friday before Justice P.P. When the matter came up for hearing before Balaji, the Tiruvannamalai District Collector filed a report. It outlined a traffic safety and management plan developed in collaboration with 20 departments for the Tiruvannamalai Deepam Festival. 24 temporary bus stops have been constructed for 2,325 buses.
4,764 special buses: 130 four-wheeler parking spaces have been created for 19,815 cars. Basic amenities like drinking water and restrooms have been provided. 4,764 special buses will be operated for the convenience of devotees from Tamil Nadu and 520 buses for foreign devotees. In addition, 16 special trains will also be operated.
1,060 CCTV cameras: A total of 1,060 CCTV cameras have been installed for the Deepam Festival, including 303 inside the temple. Emergency medical facilities have also been arranged for the convenience of devotees.
It stated that the Charity Department, the Corporation, and the District Administration had taken all necessary steps to ensure public safety during the Deepam Festival.
The judge took note of this and ordered that the necessary action be taken as described in the reports filed by the District Administration and the Police Department and closed the case.
