A migrant worker from Assam gave birth to a baby while traveling by train from Delhi to Alipurduar on Thursday night. The mother and the child, a boy, were treated by railway health officials and taken to Alipurduar Railway Hospital. On Friday morning he left for Assam. Sources said Rezaul Shaikh and his wife Amirun Begum, residents of Chautara area of Kokrajhar district in Assam, work as migrant workers in Delhi. Amirun, who was pregnant, was returning home with her husband and her daughter to give birth. He was traveling in the general compartment of Mahananda Express from Delhi to Alipurduar. On Thursday night, when the train was running between New Mall and Nagarakata stations, Amirun complained of severe labor pain. Other passengers came to help and she gave birth to a baby in the compartment. When the train stopped at Dalgaon station, a medical team and RPF personnel arrived and helped the mother and child while getting information from the ticket control staff on duty. Later, when the train reached Alipurduar Junction, the mother and child were taken to Mandal Railway Hospital. Doctors examined them and found the condition of both of them stable. On Friday morning, railway officials helped the couple take another train to reach Kokrajhar. smoke in the bus On Friday, smoke started coming out from the NBSTC (North Bengal State Transport Corporation) bus in Cooch Behar. Sources said that the bus was going from Mathabhanga towards Cooch Behar on the state highway. On reaching Suktabadi, passengers saw smoke coming from the engine. He issued an alert and requested the driver to stop the bus. When the passengers got out, the driver immediately disconnected the engine from the fuel pump. NBSTC President Parthapratim Roy took the stand. He talked to the engineers and mechanics and then said that only smoke came out of the engine and there was no fire.
