Technology: In a dramatic announcement at the NVIDIA AI Summit held in Mumbai, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang highlighted how artificial intelligence is set to drive India’s digital transformation, driving its innovation and economic advancement to global leadership. Addressing a crowd of entrepreneurs, developers, scholars, and business leaders, Huang highlighted AI as the cornerstone of India’s future.
Huang shared his vision, highlighting India’s abundant IT and computer science expertise as a vital natural resource waiting to be harnessed. To harness this potential, India’s leading cloud infrastructure providers are rapidly expanding their data centers. NVIDIA’s involvement is significant, predicting that NVIDIA GPU deployments will grow nearly tenfold by the end of the year, forming the backbone of an AI-powered economy.
Huang compared this AI development to IBM’s groundbreaking System 360 launch in 1964, and called it a major platform shift since then. India’s vast data resources and its large population provide a unique edge, playing a leading role in building an intelligence-driven industry.
Joining Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Huang discussed the critical implementation of AI in sectors such as energy, communications and manufacturing. Ambani underscored the centrality of AI to sustainable growth, with Reliance partnering with NVIDIA to transform industrial processes using AI factories.
The two leaders shared their vision of positioning India at the forefront of an AI-powered future, leveraging its tech ecosystem and rich talent pool. Their shared mission is to safely usher in an intelligence era, fostering a more equitable world through collaboration and innovation.
