DAMBUK : Swift action by a local 108 emergency response team helped save the lives of six male passengers following a road accident in Dambuk in Lower Dibang Valley district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at around 12:15 pm, when a truck reportedly lost control and crashed into the boundary wall of a local police station. After receiving the emergency call, the 108 ambulance crew reached the accident site, and assessed the situation.
The responders found six injured men. Following standard triage protocols, the emergency team prioritised the most critically injured patient. Although the victim was conscious, he had low blood oxygen levels and was bleeding from injuries to his hand and knee.
Emergency medical technician (EMT) Akke Perme and pilot Bang Lego conducted a primary assessment using the ABCD protocol – airway, breathing, circulation, and disability.
The team controlled the bleeding and, with assistance from local residents, carefully transferred the patient onto a stretcher.
The remaining five victims sustained minor injuries. EMTs provided first aid, treated their wounds, and carried out ABCD assessments to ensure there were no life-threatening conditions.
The prompt and professional response helped stabilise the critically injured patient, who was safely transferred to the district hospital in Roing for further treatment.
