Russia | Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev on Wednesday briefed National Security Advisor Ajit Doval about the latest developments in Russia. The talks between the two top officials came just days after Russia faced an insurgency by a private military group called the Wagner Group, but it was short-lived.
Significantly, the private Russian military force ‘Wagner’ group, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, rebelled last Saturday and presented a serious challenge to Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, when his men were only 200 kilometers (120 mi) from Moscow, Prigozhin decided to withdraw his fighters. Prigozhin suddenly announced his intention to go into exile and retreat after a deal with the Kremlin.
