Mumbai: Following the footsteps of veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from T20 Internationals on Sunday.
Jadeja took to his Instagram to make announcement about his retirement from the short format of cricket. “With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats . Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support. Jai hind,” he wrote while posting his picture with the World Cup trophy, which India won after beating South Africa by 7 run at the Kensington Oval in Barbados yesterday.
Notably, Jadeja has played a total of 74 T20 matches since he made his debut against Sri Lanka in February 2009. He has scored 515 runs and has taken 54 wickets.
His best T20 innings as batter was against England in 2022. He scored 46 off 29 deliveries and helped India to win the game by 49 runs. When it comes to the ball, his best bowling figure was against Scotland in the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai where he took 3 wickets by conceding 15 runs.
He has played six T20 World Cups but tasted the success last night as India won the men’s T20 World Cup after 17 years.
