Raigarh. In view of the Diwali festival, an advisory has been issued by the Fire Department, Raigarh to prevent fire in all permanent/temporary firecracker shops operating in the district. Action will be taken as per rules if the above rules are not followed during the investigation.
District Fire Officer B. Kujur, while giving information, said that the firecracker shop should not be made of any inflammable material such as cloth, bamboo, rope, tent etc., but should be made of tin (shed) made of non-flammable material. Fireworks shops should not be built at a distance of at least three meters from each other (side) and should not be in front of each other. The use of any type of oil lamp, gas lamp and open electric light for lighting in firecracker shops should be prohibited. Fireworks display should be prohibited within 50 meters of any firecracker shop. The joints in the electrical wires should not be open and every master switch should have a fuse or circuit breaker, so that the flow of electricity stops automatically in case of a short circuit. The shops should not be near transformers and high tension power lines should not pass above them. Every firecracker shop should have a 5 kg capacity DCP fire extinguisher with a range of 6 feet. There should be arrangement of 200 litre capacity water drums with poles at some intervals in front of the shops. Parking of bikes/cars should be prohibited in front of firecracker shops. Phone numbers of fire department and ambulance should be displayed at some places in the shop premises. Fire fighting vehicles can be made available for standby duty from 7 pm to 10 pm (rush hour) as per availability. There should be adequate space for movement of the fire fighting vehicle.
