Tamil Nadu: The Railway Board has granted permission to conduct a final study for the construction of additional railway tracks on six routes in Tamil Nadu.
The Railway Board has authorized a final study for the construction of Tracks 5 and 6 on the Chennai–Arakkonam, Arakkonam–Renigunta, and Chennai–Kudur routes in Tamil Nadu; Tracks 3 and 4 on the Villupuram–Trichy–Tirunelveli–Nagercoil route; Track 2 on the Trichy–Karaikudi–Manamadurai–Madurai route; and Track 2 on the Podanur–Pollachi–Palakkad route. Furthermore, the Railway Board has also issued a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for the construction of an elevated swing bridge at ‘G Corner’ in Trichy. With this development, a 16-year-old demand of the people of Trichy has finally been fulfilled.
Reacting to this, MDMK MP Durai Vaiko stated that he had been working towards the construction of this bridge for the past year and a half, and he expressed his gratitude to the Central Government.
