Punjab: Additional deputy commissioner-cum-assistant district election officer Varinderpal Singh Bajwa on Wednesday visited polling stations in the border area and inspected the facilities provided to voters on the election day. This visit was part of the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Polling stations were checked in Sursingh, Sungpura, Narla and Puhala and the officer took stock of the facilities like drinking water, lighting, toilets etc. The officer also visited the most sensitive polling stations in the border area. ADC Bajwa said that the district administration has made all arrangements to maintain law and order at the polling stations. He said that apart from the police force, paramilitary personnel have also been deployed to ensure free and fear-free voting. He appealed to the people to vote without any fear.
