Rajnandgaon. The administration in Rajnandgaon district has started a campaign of investigation and action against rice millers for depositing the remaining rice of custom milling in the district. Along with issuing notices to the operators of three rice mills who were indifferent in depositing the rice of custom milling, 6800 quintals of paddy and 2750 quintals of rice have been seized when the matter of stock irregularities in their rice mills was detected. Under the guidance of Collector Sanjay Agarwal, a team of Food Department officials is continuously investigating other documents including matching of paddy and rice stock by conducting surprise raids in rice mills.
Food Officer Ravindra Soni said that the team of Food Department has taken action to register a case against the said three mills due to shortage of paddy and rice stock during surprise inspection at Maa Parmeshwari Rice Mill Charbhatha Dongargarh, Shri Shyam Industries Maharajpur Chhuriya and M/s MJ Food Products Dongargarh. 800 quintals of paddy and 1000 quintals of rice have been seized from Maa Parmeshwari Rice Mill Charbhatha Dongargarh, 500 quintals of paddy and 1450 quintals of rice from Shri Shyam Industries Maharajpur Chhuriya and 4000 quintals of paddy and 1800 quintals of rice have been seized from M/s MJ Food Products Dongargarh.
It is worth noting that 100% quantity of rice has to be deposited by October 31 in lieu of paddy supplied to the millers for custom milling in Kharif marketing year 2023-24. In Rajnandgaon district, 99842 metric tons of rice is yet to be deposited in FCI and 16067 metric tons of Arwa rice in Civil Supplies Corporation. Rice millers have been instructed to deposit the remaining quantity of rice in FCI and Civil Supplies Corporation.
