Jashpur. The accused, who had a relationship with a woman under the false promise of marriage, has been arrested and sent to jail. The accused had been continuously having a relationship with the woman under the false promise of marriage. When the victim became pregnant, the accused refused to marry her. Based on the victim’s complaint, the accused was arrested and sent to jail.
In fact, a 20-year-old victim from a village in the Dharamjaigarh police station, Raigarh district, filed a report stating that on May 24, 2025, she had come to a relative’s house in a village in the Bagicha area for a wedding. During that time, the victim met the accused, Virendra Vishwakarma. The two began talking, and then, under the false promise of marriage, Virendra Vishwakarma raped her.
Meanwhile, the victim became 4-5 months pregnant. Despite the complainant’s request for marriage, the accused is now refusing to marry her. Based on the victim’s report, a case was registered against the accused at Dharamjaigarh police station under Section 69 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Also, the case was handed over to Bagicha police station for further investigation. Crime number 233/2025 was registered in the relevant section at Bagicha police station and taken into investigation. Taking prompt action in the case, the accused Virendra Vishwakarma was taken into custody from Surguja district area and brought back. On police interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and sufficient evidence of the crime was found, hence he was duly arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
