A young man was stabbed to death in Brijpuri

New Delhi | A 20-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed by his neighbor over a minor dispute in northeast Delhi’s Dayalpur area. A senior police officer said that around 10 pm on Friday night, 19-year-old Sonu of Brijpuri had gone to eat ice cream with his cousin Rahul after dinner near Shibban School. There, Rahul encountered 20-year-old Mohammad Zaid, a resident of the same street, and had a fight with him, during which Zaid stabbed Rahul in the lower abdomen, the officer said. Sonu also suffered injuries on his hand. The investigation so far has revealed that there was some ego clash between the two. Zaid works as a carpenter with his father, while Rahul’s father sells candy. Zaid, who is absconding, has been booked under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) at Dayalpur police station, the official said. At the same time, Rahul is currently admitted in the ICU ward of GTB Hospital. On the other hand, Delhi’s cabinet minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj attacked the BJP in this matter by tweeting in Hindi. “Knife incident in Delhi’s Brijpuri area. It doesn’t feel like it’s the national capital. Now there’s a Hindu-Muslim angle to it too. Now BJP can create ruckus, and question LG sahab too?”
