A two-track railway line should be constructed between Villupuram and Thanjavur: Former MP

Tamil Nadu : The inauguration ceremony of the renovated Chidambaram railway station, which was renovated at a cost of Rs 6 crore under the Central Government’s Amrit Bharat Yojana, took place at Chidambaram in Cuddalore district on Thursday morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the renovated railway station through video conferencing. Thol MP Thirumavalavan attended the inauguration ceremony held at Chidambaram railway station and said: We have been meeting the Union Minister from time to time and submitted a petition requesting that all express trains passing through Chidambaram should stop at Chidambaram railway station. The single-track railway line between Villupuram and Thanjavur will be converted into a double-track line. The Railway Ministry has said that it will cost around Rs 5,800 crore. Therefore, the railway line from Villupuram to Thanjavur and Karaikal should be converted into a double-track railway line. Apart from this, there has been a long-standing demand to build a new railway line from Chidambaram to Ariyalur via Kattumannarkoil and Jayankondam. We will bring it to the notice of the Central Government and take appropriate action.

Only a state with transport facilities can prosper economically. The development of Southern Railway is the economic development of India. Extra funds should be allocated for this. I request that extra attention be given, said Thol. Thirumavalavan.
