A truck loaded with rice got stuck near the railway siding, villagers and drivers were troubled by the jam for hours

Ambikapur. Ambikapur. A heavy truck carrying rice to the rake siding behind Ambikapur railway station got stuck on the road, due to which traffic was disrupted for hours in the area. The jam situation became so severe that the queue of trucks reached NH-43 and the national highway also came to a standstill. This incident completely closed the way for the residents of five villages, causing great trouble to the people. According to the information, the rural road of Thakurpur Marg from Ajirma Barrier is being used to transport rice from the Civil Supplies Corporation’s rice warehouse located at Chathirma to Ambikapur railway station. This road is built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), on which the movement of heavy vehicles is prohibited. Despite this, there is a continuous movement of trucks loaded with rice from here.

The situation worsened due to the truck getting stuck on Saturday

On Saturday evening, a truck loaded with rice got stuck on a narrow and damaged road, completely blocking the route. As soon as the truck got stuck, many trucks behind it stopped and within no time the road towards Thakurpur, Amgaon, Bishunpur Khurd and Ajirama got completely jammed. A long queue of vehicles formed from NH-43 to Thakurpur Road and a jam situation also arose on the main road.

Villagers’ anger erupted, questions raised on Railways and Supply Corporation

Villagers have expressed their displeasure at Railways and Civil Supply Corporation. They say that when the Railways has built a rake siding, a separate road should have been constructed for transporting rice till there. But the responsible people not only ignored the rules by using the narrow and restricted road of the village, but also put the villagers in trouble. The villagers have demanded that a new, wide and strong road should be built for transportation till the railway siding, so that the general public does not face any kind of inconvenience.

Sluggishness of police and administration

Even after hours of the incident, the administrative staff did not reach the spot, due to which the problem became more serious. The drivers and locals present at the spot said that unless the administration takes appropriate action, the traffic jam situation is unlikely to improve.
