Tamil Nadu: Police have commended a sanitation worker who recovered 20 sovereigns of gold jewelry and 750 grams of silver ornaments that had fallen on the road in Thiruvarur and handed them over to the police station.
Muthulakshmi, a resident of Guduvanchery in Chennai, had come to Thiruvarur to attend a function in the Olivalam area near Thiruthuraipoondi. She boarded an auto-rickshaw to go to her relative’s house in Thiruvarur and then proceeded to the venue of the function. During this time, the bag containing her 20 sovereigns of gold jewelry and 750 grams of silver ornaments fell on the road. Muthulakshmi realized her bag was missing only after reaching Olivalam. Meanwhile, sanitation worker Durai, who was cleaning the road, found the bag and discovered the gold and silver ornaments inside. He then handed it over to the Thiruvarur City Police Station. When the police examined the contents, they confirmed that it contained 20 sovereigns of gold jewelry and 750 grams of silver ornaments.
Meanwhile, Muthulakshmi arrived at the Thiruvarur City Police Station to file a complaint about her missing bag of jewelry. The police questioned her about the contents of the bag, checked the jewelry documents, confirmed her ownership, and returned the bag to her.
Furthermore, the police, led by Inspector Santhanamary, honored and commended the sanitation worker Durai, who had found the bag of jewelry on the road and handed it over to the police station, by presenting him with a garland.
