A reservoir in Telangana state is reported to be in danger of flood

Telangana State: A reservoir in the Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project, which is a part of the Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project, is reported to be in danger of flooding. The locals of the area, mainly farmers, prayed for divine help to avert the flood threat. According to the information provided, the decades-old project located at Kaddam Mandal Centre in Nirmal district was set up with a water level of 700 feet. The upper area of the reservoir was flooded due to heavy rains in the area. It reportedly crossed the level of 691 feet, raising concerns among the locals living in the area. To control the water level in the reservoir, the authorities have released flood water downstream. The report further stated that the flood gates of the reservoir were badly damaged due to floods in 2022 and 2023. This put the entire establishment in a dangerous situation. Therefore, the water level was gradually rising due to continuous rains in the area. The excess flood water was released into the Ayacut, where monsoon crops were planted, so as not to overburden the reservoir. The water was released through the right and left canals of the establishment. The process was carried out by Khanapur MLA Vedma Bhojju, who released the water after worshipping Goddess Katta Maisamma to improve the situation. The decision to release water is satisfactory to the farmers, according to them, the situation is better than ever. As per information, some farmers had planted paddy crop due to the release of water. Now, they are hopeful that the released water will prove good for the planted crops. The MLA assured the farmers that plenty of water will be made available for irrigation.
