Tamil Nadu: A tragic incident occurred in Trichy district on Saturday night, where a couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. The incident occurred at the Manakkal railway crossing near Lalgudi. The discovery of their bodies on the railway track caused a stir in the area. Police arrived at the scene, took possession of the bodies, and have launched an investigation.
According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Mohana Tirupati (17), son of Gopi, a resident of the Trichy Cantonment area, and Bhuvaneshwari (26), a resident of Bodhavur village near Srirangam. The couple were reportedly distant relatives and had a long-standing relationship. However, their families were unaware of the relationship.
According to police, Mohana Tirupati was pursuing a diploma at a college in Siruganur, near Samayapuram. Bhuvaneshwari was married and had two children: a 9-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son. Following the incident, both families are in mourning.
It is reported that both men made different excuses to leave the house on Saturday. Mohana Tirupati told his parents that he was going to the store for some work. Bhuvaneshwari told her husband that she was going to visit the Poondi Mata Temple. After this, the two left the house on their bike.
Their families were unaware that they were together. After leaving the house, they headed towards Lalgudi. At night, they reached the Manakkal railway crossing area. According to the police, they committed suicide by jumping in front of an express train going from Chennai to Kanyakumari at around 11 pm.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Railway Police and local police arrived at the scene. After finding the bodies on the railway track, the police began an investigation. Initial investigations suggest the case is believed to be a suicide. The bodies have been sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
Police officials stated that both families and acquaintances are being questioned to determine the cause of the incident. They are also investigating the length of their relationship and the reasons behind their decision to commit suicide.
The incident has plunged Mohana Tirupati and Bhuvaneshwari’s families into mourning. Bhuvaneshwari’s young children have lost their mother. The death of the 17-year-old student has also deeply shocked his family.
