A 10-year-old boy drowned in a private swimming pool in Jagatpur, North Delhi.

Delhi: In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old boy drowned in a private swimming pool in North Delhi’s Jagatpur area on Sunday. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, while the family has leveled serious allegations of negligence and lack of safety measures against the pool administration.

The deceased child has been identified as Sanskar, son of Neerja Verma, a resident of Ibrahimpur village. Sanskar was a Class 6 student and had gone to a private swimming pool on Pushta Road with his brother and some friends on Sunday morning.

According to sources, the child and his friends had gone there to spend time and take a dip. Sanskar suddenly drowned. It is reported that no one noticed the incident for a long time, preventing his immediate rescue.

When people nearby saw the child unconscious in the water, he was immediately pulled out and taken to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead after examination.

Upon learning of the incident, the family was devastated, and relatives rushed to the scene. They leveled serious allegations against the swimming pool management, alleging inadequate safety measures. The family members say that if the pool had lifeguards and proper monitoring, this accident could have been avoided.

Local residents have also expressed concern over the incident and demanded that the administration investigate the safety measures at private swimming pools in the city. They say that in many places, such pools are being operated without adequate safety measures, posing a threat to children and the public.

The police have taken cognizance of the matter and have launched an investigation and are questioning the swimming pool management. Preliminary investigations have revealed a lack of safety standards and negligence in monitoring.

The police are currently conducting a detailed investigation and are awaiting the post-mortem report. This incident has once again raised questions about the safety measures at private swimming pools.
