Village on alert over entry of tusker elephant, forest department also on alert
Korba: A tusker elephant has been creating havoc in the district’s Kartala forest division for the past one week. On Sunday night, the forest department team reached the spot after getting information about the elephant near Chhatapani and Devlapath village. The elephant had reached near the village of Devlapath. The forest department team was engaged in rescuing the elephant and driving it towards the forest. During this time, between 12 and 1 o’clock at night, the elephant entered the pond near the village. After that the elephant did not come out of the pond.
The forest workers thought that the elephant would come out in a while and go towards the forest, but even after hours passed, it did not come out of the pond. The elephant started bathing in the pond and was seen having fun by taking a dip.
As soon as it was morning, the forest department team was stationed around the pond for security and was preventing the villagers from going there. At the same time, information about this was also given to the Urga police station. After which the police reached the spot and also deployed policemen around the pond for security.
