NSE not affected by global outage of Microsoft systems

NSE: India’s leading exchange National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday said it has not been affected by the global outage of Microsoft systems. The statement came after reports of disruption in the functioning of stock exchanges in several countries. Microsoft users across the world, many of them in India, have reported massive interruptions in services, and outage tracking website Downdetector shows users flagging interruptions in various services. “NSE and NCL (NSE Clearing Limited) are operating normally today,” an exchange spokesperson said in a statement. Globally, Microsoft’s cloud outage caused US airlines to cancel flights, but the tech giant later reportedly said that the outage of its cloud services in Central America has been resolved. Traders, however, reported some platform-specific issues related to Nuvama, 5paisa, Groww, ICICI Securities, IIFL Securities and Motilal Oswal. Brokerage houses 5paisa and IIFL Securities have told their clients that their systems have been impacted as a result of the Microsoft issue.

IIFL Securities reportedly told its clients that the problems are being caused due to a glitch in cybersecurity platform CrowdStrike. “There is a global issue with the CrowdStrike antivirus security software that we have installed on our servers and endpoints, which has led to system and server reboot issues and blue dumps. As confirmed by CrowdStrike, this is a global issue and every major company that uses this software is facing this issue. 360 One is also having this issue. We are working towards mitigation on a war footing and I will update on the next status soon,” IIFL Securities reportedly told its clients. “You may be facing issues with updating and ordering frequency on our mobile app and web. Our technical team is working to resolve this. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused,” 5Paisa Capital told its X platform users.
