Ranchi: TV news anchor Sudhir Chaudhary has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. A case was registered against news anchor Sudhir Chaudhary in Jharkhand. Now the country’s biggest court has given relief to Sudhir Chaudhary from arrest. Youth associated with Rashtriya Adivasi Sangh had filed a complaint against Sudhir Chaudhary. Sudhir Chaudhary was accused of using objectionable language against tribals. Sudhir Chaudhary, editor of Aaj Tak TV channel, is accused of making remarks against the tribal community during the arrest of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. In the court, the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra ordered that no action should be taken in the FIR lodged by Ranchi Police against Sudhir Chaudhary under the SC-ST Act.
A special leave application was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Sudhir Chaudhary. The Jharkhand High Court had refused to stay further action against Sudhir Chaudhary and listed the case for further hearing in April. After this Sudhir Chaudhary had filed his petition in the Supreme Court. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, present in the court on behalf of Sudhir Chaudhary, argued that prima facie no case is made out against the petitioner under the SC-ST Act. Tribal army had filed a case against Sudhir Chaudhary.
Sudhir Chaudhary is accused of having commented on Hemant Soren in a live telecast of his popular show Black and White in the month of February this year. After this, the tribal society had alleged that his remarks had hurt the tribals and for this, action should be taken against him. However, later Sudhir Chaudhary had said on X that criticizing Hemant Soren cannot be considered as insulting the tribals. Along with this, Sudhir Chaudhary had also apologized.
