Ranger in charge suspended, accused of cheating 1 crore 7 lakh

Dhamtari. In the case of economic irregularity, Dhamtari’s deputy ranger and in-charge ranger Mahadev Kannauje has been suspended by Chief Conservator of Forests JR Nayak with immediate effect. The period of suspension will be in Raipur. The ranger in charge is accused of financial irregularities of crores of rupees.

In the order issued by Chief Conservator of Forests JR Nayak, it has been said that Mahadev Kannauje, Deputy Forest Range Officer, In-charge Range Officer Dhamtari, unauthorizedly opened account no. 1 crore 7 lakh 44 thousand 145 was withdrawn by opening 3355101006322. Misleading records were presented by forgery in the income expenditure (bank statement) of the monthly account to be submitted every month. 6 lakh 81 thousand 874 cash was withdrawn in September 2022, October 2022, November 2022 and January 2023 without the permission of Divisional Forest Officer Dhamtari. For this, 4 lakh 74 thousand 642 cash was withdrawn by authorizing the casual worker Deepak Tandon.

In view of the seriousness of the case, the Dhamtari Forest Divisional Forest Officer has recommended immediate suspension of Mahadev Kannauje, Deputy Forest Range Officer (in-charge, Dhamtari) on June 30. Under Rule 9 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules 1966, Mahadev Kannauje, Deputy Forest Ranger, Range Officer in-charge Dhamtari, Forest Division Dhamtari is suspended with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, Mahadev Kannauje’s headquarters office is fixed at Forest Conservator’s Work Planning Raipur, he will be eligible for subsistence allowance as per rules.
