Senior leader Srinivas returns to Congress
Hyderabad: Former PCC president of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh D Srinivas, who left the party after the formation of Telangana, returned to the Congress on Sunday.
Srinivas, who arrived at the state headquarters of the Congress party, Gandhi Bhavan, in a wheelchair along with his son Dharampuri Sanjay, was welcomed by AICC in-charge for Telangana, Manickrao Thakare, TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy and other senior leaders of the party in Gandhi Bhavan. His son too joined the party.
Srinivas, who was the PCC president when the Congress rode back to power in 2004 and 2009 elections in the combined Andhra Pradesh, expressed happiness over coming back to the party after a gap of eight years. “Rahul Gandhi is my leader. How can you say that he doesn’t have the eligibility (of being an MP)? Given the sacrifices made by that family & their experience, you can’t question his eligibility. I am joining the party today. I shall be a part of their ongoing protest,” he said.
