Odisha: Special enforcement drive intensified to control crime

Odisha: The Odisha Police have intensified their operations under a special enforcement drive (Special Enforcement Drive) to curb crime and criminal activities in the state. The drive was launched on May 12th on the instructions of Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania.
According to an official statement issued by the state police, this special drive is being conducted in all police ranges across the state. It is being monitored by District Superintendents of Police (SPs) and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioners to ensure effective enforcement at all levels.
The main objectives of this drive are to execute pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs), arrest absconding criminals, curb drug trafficking, recover illegal weapons, investigate illegal mineral transportation, and take strict action against road safety violations. In addition, strict vigil is being maintained against drunk driving and other illegal activities.
According to police sources, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar is directly monitoring the entire operation. Under his guidance, coordinated action is being taken in all districts to further enhance the effectiveness of crime control.
The police have achieved significant success under this special operation within the last 18 days. According to official figures, a total of 5,703 pending NBWs have been successfully executed across the state. Several absconding accused have also been arrested and action has been taken against various illegal activities.
The police department states that this operation will continue, with the aim of strengthening law and order and instilling fear among criminals. Officials have clarified that any form of illegal activity will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
This special operation is making significant progress in improving the law and order situation in the state and strengthening the sense of security among the general public.
