Namakkal: Police organization donated Rs 26 lakh on the death of head constable

Tamil Nadu: An emotional incident involving the police department has unfolded in Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu. Head Constable Sundararajan, who served at the Namakkal Police Station, recently passed away due to ill health. Following his death, the Police Friends Group and fellow police officers provided financial assistance of approximately ₹2.6 million to his family.
According to reports, an organization known as the ‘2011 Group of Policemen Helping Hands’ was formed by police officers who joined the Tamil Nadu Police Department in 2011. This organization supports the families of police officers who die in the line of duty or during their service. The organization’s objective is to provide financial support to the families of those who died in the line of duty and to support them during difficult times.
Regarding the incident, it was reported that on August 27th of last year, Head Constable Sundararajan suffered a sudden heart attack while on duty. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but died on the way. His death has left the family in a financial crisis.
To help in this situation, the ‘2011 Batch Policemen Helping Hands’ and the ‘Khaki Amma Karangal’ organization jointly collected funds. Under this initiative, a total of ₹25,91,500 was provided to Sundararajan’s family. This amount was handed over to the family through Namakkal District Superintendent of Police S. Vimala.
According to the police department, this assistance is not merely an individual initiative, but an organized effort aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation and compassion within the police force. So far, a total of ₹10,23,75,737 has been provided to the families of 52 police personnel through this organization.
District Superintendent of Police S. Vimala praised the 2011 batch police personnel for their humanitarian gesture. She said that such assistance not only provides financial support to the affected families but also strengthens solidarity and trust within the police force.
This initiative is being widely praised locally. People are seeing this as an example of police officers demonstrating social responsibility by stepping forward to provide for the family of a fellow soldier in service.
This incident also demonstrates that departmental support and humanitarian sentiments can be a great relief to any family in difficult circumstances.
