G-5 has imposed an indefinite ban on two petrol pumps over a demand for ₹1.5 lakh

Imphal: A coalition of five banned underground organizations, the Group of Five (G-5), has imposed an indefinite ban on the operation of two oil pumps in Manipur for refusing to provide annual financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh each.
The G-5 comprises the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak – Progressive (PREPAK-Progressive), and United National Liberation Front – Kopireng (UNLF-Kopireng Group), and it is this group that imposed the ban.
The ban is effective from February 1, 2026, on two oil pumps: Sarojini Oil Pump at Wangbal in Kakching district, and M/S Elidas Fuel Station at Moirang Thana Leikai in Bishnupur district.
A joint statement issued by the finance committees of the five organizations, which also claimed responsibility for a bomb blast, stated that M/S Elidas Fuel Station was asked to provide annual financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh, but its owner openly challenged the revolutionary movement.
As a first warning, a bomb blast was carried out at M/S Elidas Fuel Station on January 8, 2026.
In response to this indefinite ban, the Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF) has appealed to the G-5 to immediately lift the ban on the oil filling stations.
The MPDF, in a statement, requested that even if the two petrol pumps have committed any wrongdoing, the G-5 should find a solution so that the stations can resume normal operations.
The MPDF stated that oil pumps in Manipur are supporting relief camps, civil society organizations (CSOs), local communities, children’s homes, and old age homes through donations, and will continue to do so. It was also stated that fuel sales have plummeted since the violent crisis began on May 3, 2023, due to restrictions on free movement and because Meitei contractors, who previously purchased large quantities of diesel, are unable to work in the hill districts.
MPDF further added that sales are now less than 50 percent of the volume sold before May 3, 2023.
