India has launched a ₹14 crore animal welfare funding circle to bridge the CSR gap and strengthen national security efforts.

Maharashtra: India’s first collaborative animal welfare funding circle was launched on Saturday in Mumbai at the India Animal Welfare Forum (IAWF).
Seed Funding
The project has received initial support of ₹14 crore from the Upadhyay Foundation, India Animal Fund, Caring Friends, Mela Foundation, and Coefficient Giving. The forum hopes to address the long-standing funding gap in the animal welfare sector, which receives only 1.5% of India’s CSR funding.
This national meeting brought together policymakers, philanthropists, NGOs, researchers, legal experts, sector leaders, and conservation leaders to discuss the challenges facing animal welfare in India, such as underfunding, gaps in policy implementation, and the need for coordinated, policy-driven action to make animal welfare a development priority.
