Disabled Marriage Promotion Scheme: Married life of Kuleshwari and Lakesh Nishad strengthened

In this regard, the Disabled Marriage Incentive Scheme, run by the Social Welfare Department, is bringing positive changes in the lives of disabled couples.

Under the scheme, Kuleshwari Nishad and her husband, Lakesh Nishad, residents of Kutena village, Post Panduka, Chhura development block, Gariaband district, have benefited. Kuleshwari Nishad (34 years old) is 45% orthopedically disabled, while her husband, Lakesh Nishad (24 years old), is 40% hearing impaired. Under the scheme, a financial assistance of one lakh rupees is provided if both husband and wife are disabled. Under this scheme, an incentive of one lakh rupees was approved and provided to the couple.

The assistance received has provided this couple with a strong foundation for their married life. Today, Kuleshwari and Lakesh Nishad are no longer dependent on anyone, but are living a happy and respectable life with self-reliance. The assistance provided by the scheme not only provided financial support but also boosted their self-confidence and strengthened their sense of respect in society. The Disabled Marriage Incentive Scheme is a powerful example of the state government’s inclusive and public welfare approach, playing a vital role in empowering the disabled and connecting them with the mainstream of society.
