During Good Governance Week, the dreams of 2100 families came true, as they simultaneously moved into their new homes upon the completion of their PM Awas Yojana houses.

Raipur. On the occasion of Good Governance Week, a mass housewarming ceremony was held for over 2100 houses completed after November 1st under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and Pradhan Mantri Janman Awas schemes in the district. This collective housewarming ceremony created a festive atmosphere in the rural areas. The beneficiaries decorated their new homes with lamps and rangolis and performed the housewarming ceremony according to traditional customs. The presence of local public representatives at the ceremony further boosted the enthusiasm of the beneficiaries. The representatives congratulated the beneficiaries on moving into their new homes.

Following the instructions of the state government, and with the aim of completing the construction of houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and Pradhan Mantri Janman schemes within the stipulated time frame and increasing public awareness in rural areas, Collector Gopal Verma issued instructions, and under the guidance of CEO District Panchayat Ajay Kumar Tripathi, guidelines have been issued to departmental officers.

Under these guidelines, ‘Awas Diwas’ (Housing Day) will now be compulsorily organized on the 7th of every month in every Gram Panchayat of the district. This event will be held jointly with the Rice Festival and Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Employment Day to ensure maximum participation of villagers. During Awas Diwas, the list of beneficiaries will be publicly read out at the Gram Panchayat level, beneficiaries who have completed their houses within 90 days or before the stipulated time will be honored, prompt payment of pending installments will be ensured, NREGA wages will be reviewed, and problems encountered in house construction will be immediately resolved. Necessary steps will also be taken to ensure the availability of construction materials. The instructions also direct Panchayat officials and public representatives to disseminate information about the scheme’s provisions to the beneficiaries and discuss possibilities of convergence with various departments. Emphasis has also been placed on the widespread promotion of the toll-free number 1800-233-1290 for the quick resolution of beneficiaries’ problems.

This initiative is transforming housing construction in rural areas into a campaign. Through monthly meetings, stakeholders are being informed about the use of local materials, the services of trained masons, the standard 25 square meter design, and quality construction processes, so that the villagers’ housing construction can be completed within the stipulated time frame.
