Tata Motors reports 7% annual decline in domestic sales in April 2025

New Delhi: Tata Motors Limited on Thursday reported a 7 per cent decline in total domestic sales with sales of 70,963 units in the month of April of the current year. As per the monthly data released by the leading automobile company, sales in domestic and international markets for April 2025 stood at 72,753 units as against 77,521 units during April 2024.

As per the monthly data for April 2025, total commercial vehicle sales figures stood at 27,221 units as against 29,538 units during the same period last year, showing a decline of 8 per cent. Domestic sales of MH&ICVs including trucks and buses stood at 12,093 units in April 2025 as against 12,722 units in April 2024.

Total sales of MH&ICV domestic and international business, including trucks and buses, stood at 12,760 units in April 2025 as against 13,218 units in April 2024. In the passenger vehicle (PV) category, total PV sales for April stood at 45,199 units as against 47,883 units in the same period of 2024.

This includes sales of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, both subsidiaries of Tata Motors Ltd. The decline in sales comes at a time when the automobile manufacturer in March revealed plans to increase prices of all its passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles, from April 2025.

In March, the automobile manufacturer had increased the prices of its vehicles to mitigate the impact of rising input costs, with the extent of the increase varying depending on the specific model and variant. Apart from passenger vehicles, Tata Motors has also increased the prices of its commercial vehicles by up to 2 per cent from April 1, 2025.
In the fourth quarter (Q4) of the financial year (FY25), Tata Motors Ltd recorded total sales of 252,642 units in the domestic and international markets. This is compared to 265,090 units sold in Q4 FY24. Domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) stood at 20,474 units in March 2025, up from 19,976 units in March 2024. According to the company, in Q4 FY25, MH&ICV sales stood at 51,551 units, as against 50,643 units in Q4 FY24.
